The film ‘Thoongavanam’ is the adaptation of ‘Sleepless Nights’, the French novel and the cinema.
Having been a genuine police officer, Kamal is the ‘straight forward’ man. But, at an instance, he deviates from his path and continues his misdoings. He dares to abduct the costly narcotics from the mafia Prakashraj. Accidentally, it is snuffed by lady police Trisha.
To reimburse the lost, Prakashraj successfully kidnaps the son of Kamal. Hence, there was no way for Kamal except returning the narcotics to Prakashraj. When he goes to take the narcotics in the hidden place, he appalls as the drugs is not visible there. Where it gone? Was Kamal able to recover his son? Why he abducted the narcotics from Prakashraj? To get the answers for these questions, please go to theatre.
Kamal perfectly proved his talent as a police officer in different dimensions. As he was giving importance for family sentiments in his recent movies, he has diverted his attention to action in this movie. This film will be a mile stone for Trisha as she had corresponded well in the police role. Just after a little gap, Prakashraj had threatened as a dreadful mafia. Kishore also exhibited his talent well in a police role.
Other artists like Aasha sarath, Sambath and Jegan have also fulfilled their task. Camera man Sanu John Vargees’s work is superb. Editor John Mohmed did not make any mistake.
Music director Gibran and lyricist Vairamuthu added their contribution sufficiently to make this film joyful. A single song has been picturized beautifully. Despite, there are small flaws in the work of director Rajesh M.Selva, this film has opened a new gate to Tamil cinema.
