Superstar Vijay watched his forthcoming Tamil release “Puli” with family and close friends at a private screening here. “He watched the film at NFDC’s (National Film Development Corporation) preview theatre. His children and wife loved the film and Vijay hopes his fans will like it too,” a source from the theatre told.

” Directed by Chimbu Deven, “Puli”, a big-budget fantasy drama, releases in cinemas on Thursday in Telugu and Hindi as well. The film also stars Sridevi, Hansika Motwani, Shruti Haasan and Sudeep in important roles. On Monday, Vijay offered his prayers for the success of “Puli” at Srivilliputhur Andal temple here.

Searches were conducted at the residences and offices of southern actors Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nayanthara on Wednesday “following reports that some investment made in ‘Puli’ is unaccounted for”, sources said. According to sources, a total of 32 places were raided by authorities in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Hyderabad

.The searches were conducted at Nayanthara’s home in Kochi as well as her ancestral home in Thiruvalla in central Kerala besides at Chennai. The houses, offices and other properties of the three leading actors were sarched simultaneously by Income Tax officials. They also raided the houses of the producers of Vijay’s forthcoming Tamil film “Puli”, which releases on Thursday

“The raids were conducted following reports that some investment made in ‘Puli’ is unaccounted for,” a source told. Puli”, a big-budget fantasy drama, is believed to be the most expensive film in the career of superstar Vijay.

Sundar C’s Tamil horror-comedy “Aranmanai 2″

Actor-filmmaker Sundar C’s Tamil horror-comedy “Aranmanai 2″, which is in its last leg of shooting, has set a new record for creating Asia’s largest statue of goddess Amman, which will be used in important juncture in the film.According to the makers, the feat is likely to enter Limca Book of Records.

“We had planned to create the scenes involving the statue of the goddess with visual effects, but we weren’t sure if it’d be as authentic as a real one. Hence, we decided to make a statue with plaster of Paris, skeletons and some other materials,” the film’s art director Gururaj told.It took the team 40 days to complete the statue, which is 103 feet tall.

“We made the statue with lot of sincerity. Some of us even fasted for few days until we completed the task,” he said.A sequel to last year’s “Aranmanai”, the film stars Siddharth, Trisha Krishnan, Hansika Motwani, Soori and Poonam Bajwa in important roles.The film is produced by Sundar’s actress-wife Khushbhu

Actor Ajith Kumar’s upcoming Tamil film has been officially titled “Vedalam”. According to its makers, the film will hit the screens this Diwali. The makers announced the title and released the first-look poster of the film on Thursday

Sporting a red kurta, short-cropped hair, metal bracelet, chain and rings, Ajith looks uber cool and his look is said to have been inspired from his own avatar from 2002 Tamil film “Red”. According to a source from the film’s unit, the title means someone unique and invincible. Directed by Siva, the film also features Shruti Haasan, Lakshmi Menon, Kabir Duhan Singh and Rahul Dev in important roles.

FIRST TIME SRIDEVI SPEAK TO VIJAY PULI

sridevi, who plays the queen of an ancient kingdom in her comeback Tamil film "Puli", says she was treated like a queen off the sets too and considered this gesture of the team "sweet". To be treated like a queen even off the sets was the best part of this role. It felt special, respected and very sweet," Sridevi, who is returning to Tamil cinema after two decades, told

Sridevi's last Tamil outing was 1986 film "Naan Adimai Illai" with superstar Rajinikanth. When she went back to the sets after so many years, she admits it was nostalgic Shooting in some old studios that I hadn't visited in so many years brought back wonderful memories of my initial years in Tamil industry. It was like reliving a dream," she said.

Explaining with enthusiasm about her role, she reveals: "This is the kind of the role you get once in a lifetime. It excited me so much that I jumped at the opportunity without much contemplation. Contrary to everything I've done so far in my career, what I've done in this film will always remain special".

Going by the film's promos, one would've expected her to be playing the antagonist. But she doesn't concur with that observation. "It's a character with layers of shades. "Even Manish enjoyed working on this film so much because it gave him opportunity to experiment as well. Our vanity van used to be far away from the sets and in order to go there, I had to take the help of people to carry the gown as I'd walk. It was challenging but the whole experience was so much fun."

When asked about working with Vijay, she said: "It's nice of these popular actors like Ajith and Vijay to share screen space with senior actors like us. I mean, I worked with Ajith in 'English Vinglish', and though it was cameo, he was so much fun to work with. The same applies to Vijay as well."

"Vijay is very organised on the sets; mostly quiet. There's no discussion; no arguments. He works with so much passion and that's so encouraging for the co-stars," she added. Asked if she's keen on doing more films in the south, Sridevi said she's not a planner and would usually pick a role if it excites her. "Puli", which releases worldwide on October 1 in Hindi and Telugu as well, is the next most anticipated film of the year after "Baahubali". Sridevi doesn't like the idea of comparing both the films

Pahlaj Nihalani Hindi dubbed version of Tamil superstar vijay

Producer Pahlaj Nihalani has reportedly snapped the pan-India rights for the Hindi dubbed version of Tamil superstar Vijay-starrer "Puli", which is slated for worldwide release on October 1st

. "The deal was signed last week. Nihalani has acquired the Hindi theatre rights of the film and plans to release it in nearly 2,000 screens. All the versions of the film will have a simultaneous release on October 1," a source from the film's unit told

Directed by Chimbu Deven, "Puli" is a mythological fantasy drama also starring Sridevi, Hansika Motwani and Shruti Haasan. The film, which has music by Devi Sri Prasad, has also been dubbed in Telugu. Nihalani is also the present chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification

DIRECTOR RAJESH SPEAK SAYS THOONGAVANAM

Debutant Rajesh M. Selva says it was a dream come true moment to direct actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan in upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual "Thoongaavanam", which is slated to hit the screens during Diwali. "I think the best day of my life so far has been when Kamal sir asked me to direct this film. There's nothing before and after that moment and I don't think anything can replace it. It was like my long time dream had come true," Rajesh told.

Having worked as an associate with Haasan for over five years, Rajesh didn't find working on the film challenging. "What was really challenging was the responsibility of directing Kamal sir. Making the film was absolutely easy," said Rajesh, who will soon collaborate with the legendary actor again

.Kamal has already started working on his next Tamil outing, which will be an out-and-out comedy with story by veteran writer-director Moulee. "I'll definitely be associated with his next project. I'm not sure of my role yet, but work has already started," he said Rajesh will reportedly direct Haasan for the second time in a row.

Some advice for TV exec types - Criminal Minds

As I said in the last post, there are at least two things that make Criminal Minds (a show we like in this household) ridiculous.

1. (and this is true of many similar shows) Every time there is a job opening, it just happens that the replacement is good-looking enough to be a model. Hmm, is there some sort of a perv conspiracy at the top of the FBI and every crime lab in every major US city? I realize that attractive people make us common folk more likely to watch a show, but are we so shallow that we can't have one normal looking person out in the field finding perps?

2. The delivery of the profile. This is ridiculous in the extreme. When the team has assembled the basic details they believe to be true of the "unsub" they will call all the local law enforcement folk together to share the profile. But here's the thing--they do it as a team; each member follows the sentence of the previous one with their next like some sort of well-rehearsed chorus. Even the new girl who's only been on the team for a couple of episodes pipes in.

I direct shows--if this were a scene in a play, it would need some rehearsal time to make sure everyone knew when to come in and who had each 'line'. But there they are, nobody talking over anyone else, each taking their turn, and nobody apparently reading from a script.

Are we to believe that just happens? Or as the clock ticks and the poor victim's chances are becoming slimmer and slimmer, does the team sneak off for an hour to run practices of this performance--each profiler's lines marked with different colored highlighter pens? This is the single most annoying feature of this show, and makes any pretense of realism a joke.

Well, that and the fact that Greg left Dharma and has become a super-serious never-smile FBI guy.

Film maker actor producer sasikumar who wrapped up thara thappattai is all set to begin his next by debut director vasanthamani. we hear that the movie has been titled vetrivel and the team is on the look out for suitable heroine . as of now d.imman has been roped in to score the music and ravichandran of the trident arts will produce the film.

A source close to the film unit said the actros prabhu and thambi ramiah would be a part of the supporting cast.rumours are abuzz that preferably the team would choose a new face to play a leading lady opposite sasikumar and sources add that imman has already given tunes for most of the songs in the film.

The pooja of the film recently got over in tanjore the movie will have cinematography by s.r kathir.

Now the company is eyeing the rights of bala ‘s peroid film thara thappattai, which will have sasikumar essaying a nadaswaram artiste and varalaxmi playing a karagattam dancer. the shooting of the film took place in several locales and was wrapped up recently, and source informs that the film will hit the screen end of this year .

Tharai thappattai music has been composed by ilayaraaja .lyca productions is also expected to produce superstar rajinikanth and shankar’s enthiran 2 the shooting of which might commence next year.
