                 ORANGE MUTTAI

Our rocking hero of kollywood Vijay sethupathi—new titles on his crown, yes……lyricist and producer. The movie already got his recognition before its release. A theme and storytelling in the new pack.
Vijay screen image have characters of age 35 and less, but here the line breaks. Old man aged 65, health issues, adamant, popular. A movie – no heroine and entertainment package of blast masala. Will it satisfy our heart? More film production from him? The answers lie with the box office collection.
A simple story route, travelling. His character addles others, never give ear to others, and never settle for less. The story moves with his journey in an ambulance with a male nurse. His aloof talks and irritation it brings are more entertaining. All actions done at a blink of eye, so fast…made the viewers whistle crazily. Very first dialogue to the nurse “is it the way to take care patient? How can you?”. His character’s color put to the light. Hearing music in the ambulance, vigor actions, dressings, moustache, beard, dancing to the kuthu song all scored well. The secondary mix up of old age—the ego, loneliness, internal assessing of nature, all presented without any negativism, added strength to the movie.
Acting range of Ramesh tilak was apt enough for his character. Ambulance driver Arumukam, ashritha, karunakaran, all did a fine reach to their roles. Cinematography and editing excelled under the roof of director Biju viswanath. Each frame and shot accurate enough to keep the audience in their seat, music of Justin prabhakar firmed it more. The movie refreshes memories of Nandhlala, Anbe shivam but never the same.
Orange mithayi left no emotional attachment for the viewers, but the churls character of Vijay setupathi sure a promise in coming decade. Understanding old age their concepts, attitude, and meanings yeah….it’s a benefit we get from the movie. As a film, let me say it’s not pure entertainment but well played. Orange mithayi shows its long time nature – hmmm…. little sour.
